Jennifer Powell

Researcher

Jenny is an experienced experimental scientist (Monash University BAppSc(Hons)) working on research projects in the Atmospheric Composition and Chemistry group in CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere. She undertakes air quality projects that quantify processes of the atmosphere in urban and remote locations, yielding scientific information for use by communities, researchers, industry and government. The air quality projects include measurement of gas and particle concentrations in regional background, urban and indoor environments.

Her research interests include trends in long-term measurement of mercury and persistent organic pollutants in ambient air and exposure of communities to smoke. Jenny has experience in operating a ISO17025 accredited chemical and air quality laboratory and is currently responsible for sampling, data analysis and reporting of ambient gaseous elemental mercury measurements from Baseline Air Pollution Stations in Tasmania (Cape Grim – TAS) and the Northern Territory (Gunn Point-NT).
